Marquee Hire for Your Event

A good marquee setup should feel like part of the event, not just a temporary cover. The right choice depends on your guest numbers, the event layout, the surface it’s going on, the weather exposure and how the space needs to be used on the day.

You can choose from pop-up and framed marquees for weddings, private parties, corporate events, school functions, markets and larger outdoor setups. We can also add walls, flooring, lighting, furniture and other hire items to turn the covered area into a space guests actually want to use.

Our team handles delivery and setup from start to finish, and we’ll help you choose a marquee size and layout that suits your space, access, surface and event requirements, so you can focus on the day itself.

Framed marquees for larger events and structured layouts

Framed marquees are better suited to larger events, longer setups and layouts that need more usable space inside the marquee. They are commonly used for weddings, corporate events, school functions, festivals, community events and private celebrations where the covered area needs to feel more like a complete event space.

The clear-span structure means there are no centre poles inside the marquee, which gives you more freedom when planning tables, chairs, bars, catering areas, dance floors, stages and guest walkways. This makes framed marquees a strong option when the layout needs to feel open, organised and easy for guests to move through.

Our framed marquees are available in set widths, with the length built out in 3m bays depending on the size of your event and the space available. Walls, clear sections, flooring, lighting, draping and furniture can also be added to suit the event style and weather conditions.

Pop-up or framed marquee: which one suits your event?

Most marquee decisions start with one simple question: do you need a quick covered area, or do you need a larger event space that can be properly laid out with furniture, walls, flooring and other hire items?

Pop-up marquees are usually the better choice for smaller and simpler setups. They work well for backyard parties, market stalls, sporting events, school fetes, information stands, festivals and temporary change rooms. They can also be joined together where a wider covered area is needed, and white walls or gutters can be added for extra weather protection.

Framed marquees are designed for larger events and more structured layouts. Their clear-span design means there are no centre poles inside the marquee, so the space can be used more freely for tables, chairs, dance floors, stages, bars, catering areas and guest movement.

If you’re not sure which option is right for your event, our team can look at your guest numbers, surface, access, weather exposure and layout requirements before recommending the most suitable setup.

Wedding marquee setups built around your day

A wedding reception needs more than a covered space. It needs room for your guests to move, your suppliers to work, and your layout to come together properly, from the bridal table and dance floor through to the bar, catering access and lighting.

Framed marquees are often the better choice for wedding receptions because the clear-span interior leaves the floor plan open and easier to style. Clear or white walls, draping, flooring, festoon lighting and furniture can also be added to create a more complete space for the day.

Tell us your guest numbers, venue details and overall plan, and we’ll help you choose a setup that works comfortably for your guests, your suppliers and you.

Marquees for corporate, school, market and community events

Some events need a space that impresses. Others simply need one that works. Either way, the structure you choose can affect how smoothly everything runs on the day, from guest flow and supplier access through to weather protection, equipment cover and pack-down.

For smaller setups, pop-up marquees are often the practical choice. They work well for school fetes, market stalls, sporting events, information stands, festival activations and registration areas where the space needs to be fast to set up, easy to position and clearly defined within a larger site.

Larger events usually need something more substantial. Corporate functions, product launches, expos, community days and outdoor hospitality areas often require clear-span space that can support furniture, catering, bars, staging, AV equipment and guest movement without creating unnecessary bottlenecks.

That is where framed marquees are useful. With no centre poles inside the structure, the layout can be planned around the event rather than working around obstacles. Tell us what you’re running, and we’ll recommend a setup that suits the site, schedule, access, weather exposure and the people who need to move through it.

Marquee walls and weather protection

A roof is only part of the answer. Rain, wind direction, sun exposure, airflow and how guests move through the space all affect how a marquee should be configured on the day.

For pop-up marquees, white walls can be added to help protect the area from wind and rain, with zipper and Velcro attachments used to help secure the walls to the frame. When multiple pop-up marquees are joined together, gutters can also be used between structures to help direct water away from the join.

For framed marquees, the wall layout can be adjusted around the site and conditions. You might keep one side open for airflow and easy access, then enclose another side with white or clear walling to help shield guests from a prevailing wind or rain exposure.

Our team can look at your site, season, access points and event schedule before recommending a wall and weather protection setup that keeps the space comfortable, functional and ready for the conditions.

Marquee flooring and uneven ground

The ground beneath your marquee shapes more of the guest experience than most people realise. A level, stable surface helps guests move comfortably, keeps furniture sitting properly and makes the space feel planned rather than improvised.

On hard, level ground, flooring may not always be necessary. Grass, soft ground and uneven surfaces are different, especially for weddings, seated dinners, dance floors and events where guests will be moving around for hours.

Wet or soft grass can create real problems. Heels sink, furniture shifts and the space can start to feel uncomfortable once people, tables and equipment are in place. Integrated flooring or plywood flooring can help create a more stable base, protect the surface underneath and give the marquee a more finished feel.

For framed marquees, flooring is generally priced per square metre, so the right option depends on the marquee size, site conditions, event style and budget. Tell us about the surface, access and layout, and we’ll recommend the most practical option for the conditions.

How to choose the right marquee size

Choosing the right marquee size depends on more than guest numbers alone. A standing event usually needs less covered space than a seated setup, while dining tables, buffet areas, bar furniture, dance floors, walkways, flooring and side walls can all change how much room you’ll actually need.

Pop-up marquees are generally suited to smaller outdoor setups, market stalls, backyard events and simple weather cover. Framed marquees are better suited to larger events, formal layouts and spaces that need stronger structure, clearer interiors and more flexibility.

Use the sizing tables below as a guide to compare marquee dimensions, standing capacity, seated capacity and the setup space required. Final sizing may vary depending on your layout, site access, surface conditions and weather protection requirements.

Your Marquee Hire Questions Answered

Marquee hire pricing depends on the size, structure type, location, access and any extras the event requires. Smaller pop-up marquees are the most affordable option — they're quicker to install and require less labour. Larger framed marquees cost more because they're built piece by piece and need to be secured correctly for the conditions.

As a general guide, pricing starts from around $195 for smaller pop-up options and increases from there for larger framed setups with flooring, walls, lighting or additional hire items. For an accurate quote, send through your event date, location, guest numbers and a brief description of the setup you have in mind.

Guest numbers are the starting point, but they're rarely the whole answer. Whether the event is standing or seated, what furniture is being used and how much space is available onsite all affect the size you actually need. A seated wedding or dinner typically requires significantly more covered space than a standing event — tables, chairs, walkways, service areas, bars and dance floors all take up room that a headcount alone won't account for.

Our sizing tables give you a practical reference point, but they should be treated as a guide rather than a fixed answer. If you're unsure, tell us about your event and we'll help you work out a suitable size based on your layout, guest numbers and available setup area.

Yes — we deliver marquee hire across Sydney and Melbourne, including surrounding suburbs within approximately a two-hour radius of each city.

Availability depends on the event date, location, access conditions and the size of the setup required. If your event is outside the main metro area, it's worth enquiring early to confirm we can get there and allow enough time for delivery and installation.

Yes — all marquees are installed by our team. We don't allow self-installation because marquees need to be erected and secured correctly to keep guests safe and remain stable in changing conditions. An incorrectly installed structure is a risk that isn't worth taking.

This is especially important for larger framed marquees, exposed or windy locations and events where walls, flooring, lighting or furniture are being added to the structure.

As early as you can — particularly if your event falls during a busy period or you need a larger framed marquee, multiple structures, or additional items like flooring, walls or lighting. Popular sizes book out quickly around weddings, festivals, school events and peak outdoor seasons.

Short-notice bookings are sometimes possible depending on availability, but booking early gives you the best chance of securing the right setup, and one less thing to chase as the event gets closer.

It depends on the structure, surface and conditions. Pop-up marquees are secured with weights as standard, and additional weighting is recommended for open areas, exposed or windy sites and locations near water.

Framed marquees can be pegged into suitable grass surfaces where there are no underground services and pegging is permitted at the site. On hard surfaces — concrete, bitumen or pavers — framed marquees are secured with heavy weights or concrete blocks instead. We'll always use the right method for the site to keep the structure safe and stable throughout the event.

Yes — flooring can be added to framed marquee setups and is particularly worth considering for events on grass, soft ground or uneven surfaces. It creates a safer, more stable base for guests, furniture, catering areas and dance floors — and gives the space a noticeably more finished feel.

We offer integrated flooring as well as plywood options for some smaller framed setups. Flooring is quoted separately and depends on the marquee size, surface conditions and the finish required. If you're unsure whether your site needs it, our team can talk through the conditions with you before you commit.
